Calscience is proud to announce the addition of Michele Castro to its Business Development team. As Business Development Manager, Ms. Castro will assist with strategic planning, identification of new business opportunities, and strengthening client relationships with a focus in Marine Chemistry. "I am definitely excited to be part of the Calscience team, and the focus it has on marine sciences, and of course, service" Michele comments. Michele brings new energy and a wealth of knowledge to the Client Services group. Ms. Castro has seven years of diverse experience working for environmental laboratories. In addition to her business development background, Ms. Castro has also served as an Organic Chemistry Department Manager for a large national environmental laboratory network. Michele attended California State Polytechnic University in Pomona where she earned a degree in Microbiology with a Minor in Chemistry.

Calscience is now listed with the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) Ground Water Quality Bureau as a laboratory that can provide non-potable water, wastewater and soil analytical services. View the List of Analytical Laboratories (PDF).

Calscience acquires a new technologically advanced GC/MS/MS instrument for difficult matrices. Agilent 7000A Triple Quadrupole GC/MS system provides robust GC/MS technology for the analysis of organochlorine pesticides, PCBs, PAHs, and pyrethroids at trace levels in marine biota extracts. Despite the established extraction and cleanup techniques, the extracted tissue samples still contain large amounts of matrix materials. These materials not only interfere with the quantitative analysis in SIM mode on a single quadrupole GC/MS system, but can also cause problems with both the liner and GC column, leading to retention time shifts and contamination of the MS ion source. The Agilent 7000A Triple Quadrupole GC/MS system in combination with capillary flow technology (backflushing) and the Multimode Inlet (MMI) system reduces interference, and maximizes up-time by removing high-boiling matrix materials between each injection to keep the chromatographic system and ion source cleaner.

Calscience is proud to announce the addition of Bruce Harris to its Business Development team. As Business Development Manager, Mr. Harris will assist with strategic planning, identification of new business opportunities, and strengthening client relationships. With his valuable experience in the environmental industry and his commitment to excellent customer service, Bruce brings new energy and precedence to the Client Services group. Mr. Harris has eighteen years of experience of exemplary accomplishments in business development, client services and sales management, working for environmental laboratories and environmental consulting firms in Southern California. Bruce most recently served as Executive Director of Sales for Southern California region for a large national environmental laboratory network. Bruce received his degree from the University of California in Irvine and currently lives with his wife and three young children in Orange County.

Calscience is pleased to announce the addition of Bob Clark, Ph.D., to the staff in the new position of Program Manager for the marine science operations. Dr. Clark served as the Technical Director of Microbac Laboratories (formerly Centrum Analytical Laboratories) in Riverside, California. Prior roles also included Laboratory Director at Geotest, and Manager of Research and Development at Montgomery Laboratories. Dr. Clark received his Ph.D. in Environmental Science at the University of Illinois. His thesis work looked into the degradation of PAHs and PCB homologues.

Calscience Client Web Services now allows clients to verify sample receipt; check project status; download analytical report data packages and electronic data deliverable (EDD) files; view and retrieve signed chain-of-custody (COC) records; and search a work order or sample by work order number, project name, sample name, or sampling date range.
