EMERGENT CHEMICALS

The term "Emergent Chemicals" is used by the EPA and other regulatory agencies to identify a group of chemicals found in the environment that cause great concern with respect to our drinking water supplies. Although required to be monitored by water purveyors throughout California, these chemicals typically do not have State Regulatory standards. Likewise, there are little health effects data available.

Detailed information regarding the chemicals and Calscience's approach to their measurement can be found by clicking on the following links:

Some of these emergent chemicals may also be found in the EPA Unregulated Chemical Monitoring Rule (UCMR) lists. Remediation of groundwater impacted by emergent chemicals may notably increase as additional data are gathered.
