Instrumentation

The breadth and quantity of Calscience’s instrumentation is almost unparalleled in a single location laboratory in Southern California. With Calscience’s instrumentation inventory, in excess of 30,000 individual analyses per month can be performed. Our inventory includes:

1) GC/MSs configured for normal purge and trap (P/T), closed system P/T, air/vapor analyses, and direct injection (DI) for both volatile and semi-volatile determinations;

2) GCs configured for normal purge and trap (P/T), closed system P/T, air/vapor analyses, and direct injection (DI) for both volatile and semi-volatile determinations;

3) HPLCs configured for various semi-volatile determinations;

4) ICP/MS, ICP, FAA, and Flow Injection Mercury Analyzers for trace metal determinations; and

5) Various WET Chemistry Analyzers including those for IC, TOC, UV/VIS, and BOD as well as electrochemical measurement devices.

The great majority of Calscience’s instrumentation inventory is less than five years of age and many of the major units are maintained under manufacturer service contracts. In addition, Calscience has an instrument maintenance group that is staffed with full-time personnel. We also maintain a large inventory of instrument spares and consumables. Generally, when an instrument does go down, repairs can be effected in a very timely manner.
